Mallory (10 Months)

10 Months Old

5.17.13

This was a tough month for you and for all of us. (As the above picture sums up!)

-You got your 1st "real" bump on your head. We were Skype-ing with grandma and you reached down to grab one of your stacking cups and took a head first dive onto your cup. You cried really hard and your head bruised immediately. We put some ice on it to help with the swelling, but you were still left with quite the goose egg

- You caught a virus (probably at daycare) You were fussy, warm, not eating or sleeping like normal and just a sad baby.  We thought you might be cutting a few new teeth, but when they never came through we decided enough is enough and took you to the pediatrician.  After a $50 office visit thinking you may also have an ear infection (because you were tugging at your ear) they told us it was a virus going around, and it could be 3 Weeks until it is out of your system! FUN!!

- You decided to go on a 4 day nursing strike. I have been very excited knowing that the end to nursing is near.  I have been your main supply of food for 10 months now, and I am ready to be done. But when you pulled the plug on me..it made me REALLY sad :(  I think I may be to blame when one night you got a little anxious and "chomped down" a little hard and hurt mommy.  The next morning you wanted nothing to do with me, so I pumped and bottle fed you. This went on for 4 days! And in the middle of the night, it is such an inconvenience to get out of bed, get a bottle ready and feed you (all while you are screaming)  when all I needed before was to go whip out a boob and feed you. You finally came to your senses and one morning you decided to latch on again, and it was the best thing ever!

- May 12th We celebrated my First Mother's Day! I want to tell you that it was SO special and we had a fabulous day, but in reality it wasn't great (and I demanded a do over)  You were still fussy from being sick, I had a migraine from the lack of sleep since you have been getting up in the middle of the night again, and Pat had to work. I remember finally getting you down for a nap and just crying. This isn't what I had planned...but this is life and it isn't always pretty.  Daddy and Baby Mallory did get me an 1.5hr long massage though, so that was wonderful.. and I can't wait to use it to relax in the future.

- And the last of our rough month... Memorial Day Weekend 3 day weekend.. Woo Hoo! NOT!!!
Pat came home from work with a stomach bug on Thursday 5.23 He thought he may have had food poisoning after going out to lunch with coworkers. Well then I get it Friday 5.24 and we are both down for the count. We sent Mallory to daycare, to get her out of the house so she doesn't catch it (but in reality, she is probably the one who gave it to us) And we laid around feeling sick and taking alternate trips to the bathroom all day. Ughhh. Then early Saturday morning 5.25 Mallory wakes from a dead sleep and starts screaming. She doesn't stop, so I go in to check on her. I go to pick her up and realize that she has thrown up all over herself. (Her first time ever) I strip her down only to realize she has also pooped herself. I take her into the bathroom screaming bloody murder and try to figure out how to get her clean without getting "doody" all over my bathroom. At this point Pat knows something is wrong and comes in to find out why she is still screaming.. and then helps me get her clean. I changed her sheets and soaked her clothes, and we all went back to bed for the night Oy-Vey! What a weekend.

Now onto the good stuff....

- You wore shorts for the first time and looked so cute. The day I took this picture it was 83 degrees and the picture below was taken the next day and it flurried out. Only in KS!

_You love to play with your activity walker. All kinds of fun shapes and noises

- You can't pull yourself up on it yet, but if I stand you up you do a great job of holding on. Now you just need to figure out how to get it to go

- I got you your first pair of shoes.  You really weren't sure what to think of these things we put on your feet, and kept trying to take them off or put them in your mouth, but you look so cute. You also love to snap the laces

- We finally lowered the crib. You haven't successfully been able to pull yourself all the way up yet, but better to be safe then sorry.

- You said "Mama" very clearly for the first time this month

- You are "steam rolling" to get to toys. You roll and roll until you get to the good stuff

- Still wearing 9 Month clothes for length but almost need 12 month to get over your big head
