- We took you to the park for the first time. (6.30) You loved the swings and going down the slide with daddy.

- You are getting into EVERYTHING.  Emptying the tv stand, the desk in the kitchen, our recycling bin with the glass bottles, and playing with the swinging garbage lid. I have taken everything away! (I think more baby proofing is in the near future)  :)

- You love to say the word "hi" It's the one word you are really good at and you use it daily.

- You love to clap your hands together

- You also love to put your hand to your mouth and make "ba ba" babbling noises

- You got 2 more bottom teeth in now for a total of 8! 4 on top and 4 on bottom

- We went to the Lenexa BBQ festival (6.21) You loved riding in the stroller and people watching. I gave you some pulled pork and you loved it

- We have been going to the pool about once a week. You love to cool off and splash around while riding in your floatie

- You tried spinach (didn't love, and didn't hate) and I bought some Gerber "Pasta Pickups" from Sam's Club that you love. Mommy needs to cut them in half though, because you fed yourself one whole and started to choke! Thank goodness dad was home because mommy started to panic until you swallowed and were fine

- We went to Village Fest on the 4th of July. You looked so cute in your 4th of July dress

- We hung out with some friends of ours who have a son 2 months older then you. You loved looking at the petting zoo and playing in the shade with the other boys.

- We started you on whole milk (6.23) We have been cutting the last of frozen milk to start the transition and you have been doing great.

Mallory (11 Months)

11 Months Old

6.17.13

This has been one of your better months. You have been so happy and active and keeping us on our toes while you reach new milestones. (pulling up to your knees and crawling!)

- We had our first official night away from you since you were born. (6.1) We attended Garrett and Kim's wedding in Topeka. We had a trial run the first night for several hours when we attended the rehearsal dinner. I was very nervous but knew you were in great hands with Grammy and Grandpa. The next night we stayed overnight in Topeka after the wedding and slept in a hotel. We got a great nights sleep for the first time since you were born

-Now that you are crawling, you are getting into everything. You officially started crawling Sunday June 9th at 10.5 months old Your favorite thing to do is crawl over to the tv and pull all of the Wii remotes and charger down. You also love to bang on the cable box and dvd player, and pull Wii games and Netflix discs out

-Finally baby proofed. Bought outlet plugs, 2 gates for the stairs, foam corners for the coffee table (that you just rip off anyways) and a bath spout cover. It's a good start

- You love the Pampers and wipes boxes. You crawl into them, push them around, put toys in them and pull them back out cheap entertainment. (I also like to put you in them and drag you around the family room)

-You love books now and can sit and look at the pictures while I read, without constantly trying to eat the book

- On the move. Checking out all the new places. "No" is being used on you a lot now.

- You got a "heat rash" as I describe it on your back. I think you get really hot when you sleep and the footy zipper jammies are to warm for you now in June. We have transitioned you to regular t shirts and shorts as part of you 12 month clothes that you have now transitioned into

We introduced you to the sippy cup this month. Mommy has only given you water so far (I just don't trust milk in them quite yet) You were confused at first, but got the hang of it very quickly

-Grandpa Brad even let you drink straight from his cup. You did great!

-You are such a happy baby.. learning to stand on your own with very little help.

- We have started using your highchair more and have retired your Bumbo. You even sat in your first restaurant high chair at Bass Pro Shop (6.3) You loved being with the grownups at the table and you even got your first taste of fish at lunch

- Ate toast for the first time and had ice in your mesh feeder bag

- You are very fair and received your first sunburn (6.10) I felt so bad for you. It happened at daycare, I think you were sitting in a swing or chair, cause the tops of your legs from where your shorts stopped all the way to the tops of your feet were red.  We now send you with a hat and sunscreen

-6.16.13 Father's Day: Your first time in a swimming pool. We got you all dressed and headed to the pool. It wasn't busy at all! We hopped in only to find out the water was quite cool.. but we managed. You clung to daddy at first, and took it all in. and then quickly started splashing and squealing

You love the pool, it's just like a giant bathtub

Looking cute in your Mermaid princess towel

- You cut the 2 center top teeth (6.27) and 2 more are right behind them. So that will give you 6 total 4 on top 2 on bottom

- Now that you are on the move, we have set up your Pack and Play as a "baby jail" We have dumped all your toys in there and it gives us a chance to do things while you are in a safe environment

-You love to cuddle with mom :)

Mallory (10 Months)

10 Months Old

5.17.13

This was a tough month for you and for all of us. (As the above picture sums up!)

-You got your 1st "real" bump on your head. We were Skype-ing with grandma and you reached down to grab one of your stacking cups and took a head first dive onto your cup. You cried really hard and your head bruised immediately. We put some ice on it to help with the swelling, but you were still left with quite the goose egg

- You caught a virus (probably at daycare) You were fussy, warm, not eating or sleeping like normal and just a sad baby.  We thought you might be cutting a few new teeth, but when they never came through we decided enough is enough and took you to the pediatrician.  After a $50 office visit thinking you may also have an ear infection (because you were tugging at your ear) they told us it was a virus going around, and it could be 3 Weeks until it is out of your system! FUN!!

- You decided to go on a 4 day nursing strike. I have been very excited knowing that the end to nursing is near.  I have been your main supply of food for 10 months now, and I am ready to be done. But when you pulled the plug on me..it made me REALLY sad :(  I think I may be to blame when one night you got a little anxious and "chomped down" a little hard and hurt mommy.  The next morning you wanted nothing to do with me, so I pumped and bottle fed you. This went on for 4 days! And in the middle of the night, it is such an inconvenience to get out of bed, get a bottle ready and feed you (all while you are screaming)  when all I needed before was to go whip out a boob and feed you. You finally came to your senses and one morning you decided to latch on again, and it was the best thing ever!

- May 12th We celebrated my First Mother's Day! I want to tell you that it was SO special and we had a fabulous day, but in reality it wasn't great (and I demanded a do over)  You were still fussy from being sick, I had a migraine from the lack of sleep since you have been getting up in the middle of the night again, and Pat had to work. I remember finally getting you down for a nap and just crying. This isn't what I had planned...but this is life and it isn't always pretty.  Daddy and Baby Mallory did get me an 1.5hr long massage though, so that was wonderful.. and I can't wait to use it to relax in the future.

- And the last of our rough month... Memorial Day Weekend 3 day weekend.. Woo Hoo! NOT!!!
Pat came home from work with a stomach bug on Thursday 5.23 He thought he may have had food poisoning after going out to lunch with coworkers. Well then I get it Friday 5.24 and we are both down for the count. We sent Mallory to daycare, to get her out of the house so she doesn't catch it (but in reality, she is probably the one who gave it to us) And we laid around feeling sick and taking alternate trips to the bathroom all day. Ughhh. Then early Saturday morning 5.25 Mallory wakes from a dead sleep and starts screaming. She doesn't stop, so I go in to check on her. I go to pick her up and realize that she has thrown up all over herself. (Her first time ever) I strip her down only to realize she has also pooped herself. I take her into the bathroom screaming bloody murder and try to figure out how to get her clean without getting "doody" all over my bathroom. At this point Pat knows something is wrong and comes in to find out why she is still screaming.. and then helps me get her clean. I changed her sheets and soaked her clothes, and we all went back to bed for the night Oy-Vey! What a weekend.

Now onto the good stuff....

- You wore shorts for the first time and looked so cute. The day I took this picture it was 83 degrees and the picture below was taken the next day and it flurried out. Only in KS!

_You love to play with your activity walker. All kinds of fun shapes and noises

- You can't pull yourself up on it yet, but if I stand you up you do a great job of holding on. Now you just need to figure out how to get it to go

- I got you your first pair of shoes.  You really weren't sure what to think of these things we put on your feet, and kept trying to take them off or put them in your mouth, but you look so cute. You also love to snap the laces

- We finally lowered the crib. You haven't successfully been able to pull yourself all the way up yet, but better to be safe then sorry.

- You said "Mama" very clearly for the first time this month

- You are "steam rolling" to get to toys. You roll and roll until you get to the good stuff

- Still wearing 9 Month clothes for length but almost need 12 month to get over your big head

- You rode in the shopping cart for the first time on Easter Sunday. You loved it! You were talking and squealing at everyone we passed.

-April 1st Granny and Grampy came to visit us for Easter. They brought all kinds of fun Easter gifts, including this baby camping chair.

They set up an Easter egg hunt around the house. Daddy liked playing "baby crane" with you..lowering you down so you could grab the gifts and put them in your bucket

Of course you had to "taste" the ribbon from your new stacking cups

You love playing with the new cups and banging them together and "unstacking" our pyramids

You are such a ham :) You love to giggle and squeal

You take the simplest things and love to play with/taste them (water bottles included)

You cheered on the Twins when they played the Royals

You have been eating all kinds of "real people food" You have been very interested in what dad and I eat, and you want to try everything.  You have now tried breads/buns, noodles, chicken, french fries, and burger. We have also started peas, yogurt and puffs since last month

You have shown signs of stranger anxiety. We went to dad's work and you were very shy around the new people. We also took 9 month pictures and you were not having it with the photographer..AT ALL! You wanted to be held and cried, and were very nervous. After a few minutes you really warmed up and became quite the little model during pictures :)

You love to grab at cell phones, TV remotes and diapers. And chew on tags and hoodie strings

You are showing signs you are ready to start crawling. You are scootching, and reaching for things just out of grasp. You are also rolling back and forth to get to objects. And when you are in "baby push up" you rock back and forth

Every morning we've been finding you on your tummy when we get you from the crib. Completely opposite of how we laid you down the night before. (and at the opposite end)

You love to stand and hold onto things (coffee table and your walker) but aren't cruising yet

You love playing with your turtles and ducks during bath time and splashing and making sounds while raking the foam backing of the tub

It took you 9 months but you finally pooped in the tub..ick!

Our family of 3 "SO Big"

A favorite 9 month picture in your dress (Thanks Grammy!)

Mallory (8 Months)

8 Months Old

 3.17.13
(St. Patrick's Day)

-You cut your first 2 teeth the first week of March 4-8 (Great timing Mallory..daddy was out of town in training!) It was a rough couple of days being a single parent with a grumpy baby. You ran a fever, were grumpy and didn't sleep through the night like usual. But with a some teething tablets and Tylenol we got through.

You loved to chew on Sophie and your teething rings during this time

3.17.13 You celebrated your first St. Patrick's Day (you are a Mahoney after all)

- March 12th you watched Daddy make a huge change to his appearance when he cut his hair. I was really worried you wouldn't recognize him. But we all went to Great Clips and you watched them cut his hair. It's still daddy (just with less hair to pull)

- March 13th daddy cut his beard. After having the beard the majority of your life I was afraid you wouldn't recognize him. We all went into the bathroom and you watched him trim and buzz his face clean. No more beard to grab onto. You adapted really well.

- You took your first stroller ride March 15th without the baby carrier. You sat up like the big girl you are. It was a warm sunny day and you loved checking out the world...watching the cars go by and all the new sights you saw. And apparently you would rather chew on your sunglasses instead of wearing them

- You struggle with regular nap times. You are so curious about the world around you..you don't want to miss out on anything by napping.

- You are very vocal and funny and love to blow "raspberries"

- EVERYTHING goes in your mouth

- You have gotten very good at sitting up on your own without tipping over

- You are showing signs of wanting to crawl. You have been trying to reach out to toys just out of reach and "scootching" and rocking..you have also tucked your leg under your other leg.

- You have developed quite the personality..you don't like when we leave the room, or take toys away, or say "No"

- You were very patient with us when we went out car shopping. It made for some long days and straying from your routine but we made it..and now you get a fun new car to ride in with lots of room

- Tried pears, peach applesauce, and oatmeal and loved all of them. Tried zucchini and gagged...horribly! (It actually scared me)

-Wearing 6 month clothes

- These hats still make everyone smile

-You are very funny and becoming such a little person. I can't wait to see what the next few months have in store for us
