Our night at The "K"

Monday night (7.26) the Minnesota Twins were playing the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Game Recap:
- Mauer went 5 for 5
- Valencia went 4 for 4 with a Grand Slam
- Liriano threw 7 Scoreless innings
- KC pitcher Zack Grienke didn't pitch past the 5th inning
- Twins snapped Butler's 7 game hitting streak
- I dodged a foul ball to the chest by about 3 feet!!

All in all a great day at the ballpark!!

I feel like all I ever talk about or post is pictures that are weather related! :) Well that's because it still blows my mind how damn hot it gets here! It did get to the 100 degree point about 2 weeks ago...but I forgot to take a picture. So needless to say I finally got one last Friday!

Unbearably HOT!

I ran errands this morning just for this reason...to avoid the heat.




When I arrived home just before noon and this is what the local weather station was telling me. Check out the humidity and dewpoint...Opressive! I am headed to the pool, to stay cool.

The inexplicable fashion fads of my childhood

I came across a Yahoo article the other day with trends from my child hood it provided me with a good laugh and a "Hey...I had that!" There were 16 trends on the list, and I only managed 7 of them...I must have been deprived as a child :) J/K!




Scrunchies: Hair elastics may be more mature, but matching your scrunchie to your outfit was the way to go as a kid. We used to literally collect them.

-I had many scrunchies for the long hair I had as a child. I do remember buying most of the at my favorite store Limited Too!



Slap Bracelets: Teachers went crazy from all the disruptive cracking sounds as kids took their bracelets on and off during class, and thus slap bracelets were banned. Boo!

-I remember having these in like 2nd and 3rd grade...I remember them banning them at school, because kids were getting hurt from slapping other kids hard with them.



Stick on Earrings: Before my mom would let me get my ears pierced, I favored these sparkly stickers.

-I think this is where my love for stickers may have come from :)



Jelly Shoes: Available in a rainbow of colors, these made your feet sweat and get blisters, but they sure were fun! High-end designers like Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs still continue to harp on the nostalgia factor of these shoes each summer.

- I remember having some fun jelly shoes from Target as a kid...great for the summertime (Not so much MN winters!) :)



Hypercolor tees: These tees changed colors when you got warm or sweat.

- I remember it not working really well especially after you washed it.



Friendship Bracelets: I would spend all my free time during summer making these and often trading with a pal.

- I remember having a business where we set up a table in the front yard to sell the bracelets we made. We would go to Wal Mart and buy the floss to make our bracelets and all the extra thread we had, we would wrap around the little plastic cards and put them in the floss box (We were so cool!)



Banana Clips: This was the coolest way to pull your hair back in the '80s. And then they disappeared.

- Once again having long hair as a child these were frequently used to pull my hair back off of my face.

I'm Back...

Pat and I took a road trip home, during the week of 4th of July We left KC on Tuesday 6/29 and I ended up staying until Tuesday July 6th. Pat needed to go back home on Saturday the 3rd, because he was working the 4th of July and all the festivities that were going on.

What a great time we had...family, friends, food...all kinds of great activities! No work, no worries!! It was wonderful. The first day home we hung with our families. We have not seen our families since the wedding (almost 8 months ago at this point!) It was so nice.

Wednesday 6/30: It was a gorgeous day...we spent the day outside in our pool soaking in the sun, and getting caught up on life.

Thursday 7/1: What a busy day we had... We picked up family at the airport who flew in from San Diego to join in the festivities of the 4th. Pat's brother, his wife and almost 6 month old baby arrived into MSP. We had lunch and got caught up with them, before we headed off to our first outing to the new Twins stadium Target Field





What a gorgeous stadium! We arrived early and walked around the whole ballpark! We didn't want to miss anything!




We finally got situated in our seats (Picture taken from our seats) The Twins were playing the Tampa Bay Rays that evening, game 1 of 4 in the series. It was a warm beautiful night in downtown Minneapolis. We enjoyed all sorts of ball park food, had a great time...unfortunately we lost the game 5-4 in the 10th inning :(

Friday 7/2: We spent the morning getting massages!

This was only my second professional massage ever...and I enjoyed all 50 minutes of it. I didn't realize how tight my back has become, from sitting hunched over a desk for 10hrs at a time. It felt really good to get my trap muscles worked on.

Buffalo Chicken Rolls
(Original buffalo chicken, Mozzarella and blue cheese dressing rolled and baked inside our handmade pizza dough. Topped with buffalo sauce drizzle, celery and carrot shreds. Served with blue cheese dressing.) They were so good!

Friday night we had a get together with all of our friends and family and had dinner, drinks, and many laughs! It was such a good time to get everyone together and enjoy each other's company! "A little Chicken Soup for the Soul"

Sat 7/3: Pat left in the morning for the 7 hr trip back to KC. I went scrapping at my local scrapbook store where my girlfriend Laura works. I had such a good time getting caught up with her, and getting a few pages done. After the store closed at 6...I headed home to find all of our neighbors out by our pool, hanging out and having dinner together.

Sun 7/4: Happy 4th of July!! The weather in MN was very overcast a big bummer, since I wanted to spend the day in the pool soaking up the sun. We made the best of it though and had another fabulous homemade dinner outside with all the neighbors surrounding the pool until 11pm! Chicken wings, corn on the cob, pasta salad, beans and bars. I was a happy camper!

Mon 7/5: I spent the day at Archiver's with former co workers of mine...Scrapping the day away! It was so fun to sit down with these ladies after all of this time has passed since my move, and act like no time had passed whatsoever! The day was filled with laughs, memories, reminiscing, and actually getting some pages complete from our San Diego/Las Vegas trip.

Tuesday 7/6: I spent the day visiting with my grandparents before heading to the airport. I left MSP at 7:20 with a layover in Milwaukee, WI. I had a great view of Target Field and the Metrodome on takeoff, and really wished I would have my camera out for that picture! I had a 2 hr layover in WI and finally at 11:45pm I arrived home into KC!
