Mallory (6 Months)

6 Months Old

6 Months Old: 1.17.13

6 Month Appointment on 1.22.13

Weight: 15lbs 12.8 oz  (50%)

Height: 25.25 in. (25%)

Head: 17.25 in. (75%)

So mom was right...you just have a big head!  I was so relieved when the doctor said your head grew proportionately and that you wouldn't need a scan!

Your 6 month check up went well, we addressed your pooping issues and they are normal. We talked about you starting more of a variety of solid foods, and the need to moisturize your skin more because it is getting a little dry in some spots.  Other then that, you only received 2 shots this time and had minimal crying! Now we don't have to go back until you are 9 months old!

-  We got a Magic Bullet for Christmas, so mom is making all of your baby food...and with that being said.. You had your first real baby food on 1.15.13... Sweet Potatoes! (and you really enjoyed them!)  They stayed in your mouth and we had no mess. Success! Next up homemade carrots.

- Wearing 6 month clothes (with the sleeves rolled up) and size 2 diapers (and really needing to go to the 3's!)

- You are becoming a "chunky baby" especially your thighs. But I still think you are pretty small and not as "rolly" as other babies. (But you were teeny tiny when you were born with NO meat on your bones!)

- You are finally wearing "real clothes" instead of sleepers during the day. You even got your first pair of baby jeans, and you look so cute in them!

-Everyone loves your fun hats that Granny makes for you! It has been pretty cold out and we bundle you up every morning before daycare

-You really enjoy you jumpy

- You love to be held and look around at "big kid height" you are very curious.

- You love when we hold you up to the hall or bathroom mirror so you can look at yourself

- You have found your feet, and love to play with them all the time.  You can even get your toes in your mouth now.

- You love kisses and giggle and turn your head away excitedly after we do.

- You've been looking like you were going to roll over from back to tummy for weeks now..well you fooled us!  While doing tummy time on Monday (1.21.13) you rolled over from your tummy to your back! I was so shocked! The next day you did it several more times! (always to your left)  Mommy is so excited..a new milestone! You are getting so strong

- Morning naps are our only guaranteed time you will nap.  Usually 1.5 -2 hrs after getting up and eating it's nap time. Other then that unless we go on a car ride, or you have a warm body to sleep on..not so much. You are just so curious you don't want to miss out on anything.

-You have no problem sleeping on the floor in the living room, or in your swing or bouncer. The crib is usually only used to sleep in at night

- You really love "Daddy Daughter Day" on Saturdays. You and daddy always seem to have so much fun together.

- You are very loud, noisy, giggly and squealy now. It's hilarious! You are so funny!

- Tummy time is hit or miss..sometimes you don't mind it, other times you last a minute and want to be picked up. Other times you throw your leg over and roll over :)

- Everything continues to go in your mouth...saliva is everywhere

- You love to "stroke mom" while you feed.  It's like a cat sharpening her claws :) You run your hands across my chest in a "swimming motion"

- You had another terrible blowout this time at daycare. (1.18) Miss Rebecca said it was one of the worst blowouts she has ever seen and even had to give you a bath!

-I can't believe you are 6 months old already!! You are already half way to your first birthday! Time has just flown by, and you continue to amaze us everyday!

Recipe from Organize Your Stuff Now

Another great Pinterest meal I found. We had some leftover ham steaks from Christmas in the freezer, and we always have chicken breasts on hand. A little bit of easy prep work and we had a delicious meal in 30 minutes! I still don't understand the rice in this recipe (maybe it binds everything together?) But it was delicious.

Mallory (5 Months)

5 Months Old

5 Months Old: 12.17.12

- Still wearing 3 month clothes but have started the transition to 6 Month clothes because 3 month are getting hard to get over your head

- Wearing Size 2 diapers

-You are still not sleeping through the night. Bedtime is between 7-8 each night and you are usually up around 1 am and feeding is the only thing that will put you back to sleep. (and then you usually make it till 7am when dad gets you up)

- You are finally big enough for your ExerSaucer. You are still on your tip toes..so we put a pillow under your feet to give you a little "boost" You only like being in it for 20 minutes or so ( I think it is SO overstimulating for you)

- You ran all kinds of Christmas errands with mom.  You loved all the stores, people and change of scenery

- We fed you your first "solid food" Rice cereal on 12.23.12 You did really well with it, no crying, no spitting it back up. You loved it. We can't wait to try some fruits and veggies now.

- You started to get really stinky gas (maybe from solids) and are now pooping only once a week! This is really crazy to all of us, but we know you are just maturing and using all of the nutrients from your breastmilk with very little waste.  When you do "blow"  (on Saturday's usually) it's pretty bad

- You also had your first public "blow out" We don't go out much (and now I know why!) :) We went to dinner with friends at Strouds. We had a bit of a wait, and I pulled you out of your car seat and got "the whiff" I went to the bathroom to change you, only to find out you had pooped through your onesie and onto your sleeper. We didn't have a spare outfit with us, and you needed a bath, so you and I went home, while dad stayed out with his friends. This was by far your worst poop to date!

- You are finally growing some "peach fuzz" hair. You still have no hair on the back of your head, where you lay down and rub your head back and forth

- You are pretty easy going, but have definitely been wanting to be held a lot more lately. (Especially at night when you come home from daycare and we are trying to cook dinner!)

- You still can't sit up unassisted. You do good in your Bumbo..but have what dad calls a "Pimp Lean" where you tip to your right

- I love your baby giggles and I know just how to get them..undressing you to take a bath! You get so excited. And you seem to be ticklish under your arms and a little on your sides

- You celebrated your First Christmas and even got to go see Santa!!

- You received a bunch a cool new toys to play with: Llama Llama books, duckies, squirt toys for the tub,  monkey stroller toy, singing/talking puppy, Baby Einstein Octopus, Walker/activity center, new clothes, high chair toy, plush monkey blanket toy, crinkle dolly..and more!

- You love your activity mat, and are content there batting and pulling for over an hour!

- You love to be pulled up to stand now and can bare weight pretty well

- Your favorite place to fall asleep is on Daddy's chest.

- You are finding your voice and love to talk to yourself especially at 1am after feeding and getting a new diaper
